Westwood Family 09.04.19 – Trike Harley Family Tour

Gallery

Our New Zealander passengers have been to Sydney before. They hadn’t done anything as exciting as a Harley and trike tour though. It was also a celebration for Trudy’s 50th birthday. So what better thing to do than a Trike Harley Family Tour where everyone can be included in the fun.

Trike Harley Family Tour

Our Harley rider Jungle and our trike riders Craig and Syl picked them up from their hotel in Darling Harbour. Because it was Trudy’s birthday she had already bagged the Harley. The husband and son went on one trike and the grandparents on the other. There were opportunities when they could swap around to try the other bikes.

They firstly went over the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Balmoral where they stopped for a wine at a cafe to celebrate the special birthday. The family and riders continued over the Spit Bridge which has lovely views of Sailors Bay on one side and Sandy Bay on the other.

Dobroyd Head

They stopped at Dobroyd Head. This has wonderful views between both North and South Heads. Look across Sydney Harbour and out to the South Pacific Ocean. Absolutely stunning.

Next, they continued on to Manly where they were dropped off. They were going to explore this lovely area, have some lunch and catch the ferry back into the city. A Trike Harley Family Tour was an unforgettable experience, the grandpa said “It is a day he will never forget”. They ALL loved it!

Information about the Spit Bridge

The Spit Bridge, completed in 1958, is of state significance. It is a substantial landscape feature that has played a crucial role in allowing the development of the northern beaches suburbs to occur over the last 44 years. The Bridge is also extremely rare as it is the only lift bridge still operational on a major arterial road.

The Spit Bridge is a steel and concrete girder bridge with a bascule liftspan across the Middle Harbour, is located 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) northeast of the CBD.

Jenny 07.04.19 – Manly Northern beaches Harley tour

Gallery

A Manly Northern beaches Harley tour was designed by us for Jenny. She is South African now calling England her home and in Australia for a holiday. Jenny decided a Harley ride would be a good way to see some of the sights most visitors don’t get to see. Quite right!

jenny wrote, “I need a kind driver who won’t mind if I cling onto him tightly to begin with as I have only been on a bike once before – I’m not nervous though!”. We have many kind Harley riders but we knew exactly who to use. Phil is very kind, friendly and helpful. Jenny was not nervous for long.

Manly Northern beaches Harley tour

He picked her up from her hotel in Darling Harbour. The first thing they did was ride over the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is a wonderful sight and to look upwards, it really gives a sense of its size and design.

They stopped at Blues Point to look across the beautiful Sydney Harbour towards the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Not far from there is Jeffrey Street Wharf, therefore they stopped for photos and to look at the wonderful view. It doesn’t matter what angle you see the famous icons, you’ll always love the view. Even on a grey day it is beautiful.

Continuing on, they rode eastwards into upperclass Mosman and down past Taronga Zoo to Bradley’s Head. So, if you are lucky you’ll see koalas having a nap or eating gum leaves. This is a headland protruding from the north shore of Sydney Harbour, with beautiful views to the city and the eastern suburbs.

Jenny and Phil called in to see the expensive Balmoral Beach, which is in one of the bays of Sydney Harbour. Over The Spit Bridge and down to the famous Manly and North Head. More beautiful views!!

The beautiful northern beaches

Along the coastline they rode, past some of the northern beaches – such as Queenscliff, Curl Curl, Dee Why and Collaroy. We love this area of Sydney. It is beautiful but has become very popular to visit and to live here. They rode up to Narrabeen Lagoon and onto the Wakehurst Parkway.

Wakehurst Parkway

This is a road which is tree lined and the speed limit is slightly higher, 80kms per hour. It gives the rider and passenger a chance to go a bit faster, to really hear the Harley.

All too soon the ride finished. Where did the 2.5 hours go? A Manly Northern beaches Harley tour was a fabulous way to see these beautiful areas of Sydney. There are no trains on the peninsula so to see that area you need a vehicle or you can catch a bus.

Mugdha + Vinayak 06.04.19 – Harbour Bridge trike tour

Gallery

We organised a Harbour Bridge trike tour for our passengers. They are visiting Sydney and thought it would be the best way to see the iconic Harbour Bridge and Sydney Harbour. They are right – it is the best way!

Harbour Bridge trike tour

Craig picked them up from Circular Quay and rode over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is something we never ever tire of, no matter how many times we ride over it. Tilt your head back a little to really see the wonderful arches and steel work. It is such a different experience than driving over the bridge with a roof over your head, blocking a lot of the view.

Their first stop was Blues Point. It has wonderful views looking eastward over Sydney Harbour. There is an unrestricted view of both the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

Kirribilli House

Then they rode to Jeffrey Street Wharf at Kirribilli. The same suburb which has ‘Kirribilli House’, the secondary official residence of the Prime Minister of Australia. the primary official residence being The Lodge in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. See below for more information.

There is another wonderful view across Sydney Harbour to the Opera House and the city. If there is time, we ride under the north end of the bridge, past the entrance road which goes to Luna Park and past North Sydney Olympic Pool.

They continued back over the Harbour Bridge before being dropped off at Circular Quay. The Harbour Bridge trike tour is a great ride and a fun experience. https://www.trolltours.com.au/product/harbour-bridge-ride/

‘Kirribilli House’ was built in 1854, a Gothic-style structure, a twin-gabled dwelling or cottage ornée – on the land’s highest spot. In 1956 Kirribilli House was set aside as a residence for the use of Australia’s Prime Ministers, when they need to perform public duties and extend official hospitality on behalf of the government during stays in Sydney.

Susan + Tina 03.04.19 – Harley Eastern Panorama tour

Gallery

We organised a Harley Eastern Panorama tour for our American passengers. They have been friends for over 30 years and left their husbands behind in Southern California. They called into a couple of countries before arriving in Sydney.

Before they left home they were told by other friends to definitely do a Harley ride in Sydney. They weren’t told who to do it with so they looked up rides on the internet. They liked our website the best, it looks smart and easy to look around. All those great reviews help. So they rang us and we organised two of our riders to do an adapted Harley Eastern Panorama tour.

Harley Eastern Panorama tour

Jungle and Perry picked them up from their hotel in Walsh Bay. Firstly they rode over the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is always wonderful to see the steel arches from the back of a Harley.

They stopped at Blues Point Reserve for photos. Another beautiful view that one never gets tired of. The Sydney Opera House just shines on a beautiful day. The view of the Harbour Bridge from a different perspective is also unforgettable.

They rode back over the Bridge and headed to the Royal Botanical Gardens. They can ride along the eastern edge of the gardens until they arrive in the Domain-Yurong precinct. This area also has wonderful views across Sydney Harbour. You can see the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge when you look westwards.

They stopped to have a look at the Sydney landmark Mrs Macquarie’s Chair. The chair was carved out of a sandstone rock ledge by convicts in 1810. Specially commissioned by Governor Macquarie for his wife Elizabeth who was known to love the area this is one of the best vantage points to view the sights of Sydney Harbour.

As they rode back along the peninsula they could see Finger Wharf where Russell Crowe has a place. They rode into Woolloomooloo and past the famous Harry Cafe De Wheels. Famous for their pies and peas. They continued up into Kings Cross and rode along the main drag. It still has strip joints and a seedy reputation but it nothing like it used to be.

The iconic Coca-Cola Billboard

They went past the iconic Coca-Cola Billboard sign. It is an advertising billboard erected in 1974 by the Coca-Cola Company. It is more often regarded as an iconic landmark than as an advertisement. Commercially, it is considered to be the premier billboard in Sydney and is the largest billboard in the Southern Hemisphere. It is commonly, though incorrectly, assumed to be heritage-listed.

The Harleys then travelled along William Street into the city, around the Rocks and back to the hotel. The Harley Eastern Panorama tour was a great success. Susan + Tina loved every second of the experience.

Michelle’s Family 30.03.19 – family’s 14th birthday trike ride

Gallery

Michelle (mum) organised a family’s 14th birthday trike ride. It was for her daughter’s 14th birthday and two of her friends. Michelle and her husband (dad) came along for the ride.

The riders, Craig and Brian, picked them all up from their home in Balmain. This is in the inner west of Sydney. The parents had decided the 3 Bridges ride was a great route to ride around.

The ANZAC Bridge

The first bridge they rode over was the ANZAC Bridge. It is such an amazing bridge. We have no idea how it was designed. We have an even less idea how it was built. All we know is it is great to ride over.

Not long after the ANZAC Bridge was the ride over the second bridge. The absolutely wonderful bridge – the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge

The first stop was Jeffrey Street Wharf at Kirribilli. The beautiful views never cease to amaze us. Our passengers and our riders always love to look over Sydney Harbour to the Opera House and the city.

They then continued to Blues Point which also has fantastic views across Sydney Harbour. From here, the perspective is looking east and is totally different to the view from Kirribilli. Both views are worth checking out!

The Gladesville Bridge

They all continued riding from Blues Point along the lower north shore suburbs. This took them to the second major bridge in Sydney – the Gladesville Bridge. It is a wonderful bridge in a totally different way.

After they rode over the Gladesville Bridge they continued on a main thoroughfare. This continued for a short while until they turned off into the inner west of Sydney. They joined the ‘Bay Run’ for a while. The ‘Bay Run’ is a 7 km long run around Iron Cove. People come from all around Sydney to run or walk or ride their bikes.

Please look at our precious posts (and some future posts) for information on any of the bridges. ? We have just reread what we wrote and by ‘precious posts’ we really do mean ‘previous posts’. ?

We really do have a sense of humour as do all our riders. Please feel free to act your self!! A family’s 14th birthday trike ride is a wonderful experience. We will help you organise a ride for anyone in your family who is celebrating a big occasion!

Jadranka 30.03.19 – Harley tour birthday present

Gallery

Jadranka was given a Harley tour birthday present from a group of her friends. They all met together at Manly where Phil picked Jadranka up.

Phil figured that as they were all locals from around the Dee Why area, especially the passenger, there was be no point in doing northern beaches run. Dee Why is part of the northern beaches.

Harley tour birthday present tour

So they first headed to North Head, it has beautiful views west actoss Sydney Harbour towards Sydney. They continued on to the Spit Lookout. It also has wonderful views, this time across Middle Head. Depending which direction you look, you can possibly see between North and South Head.

They turned back and rode to Tania Park. This is part of Dobroyd Head and has some of our most favourite views. You definitely see through both the HEads from here. In whale season is it not uncommon to see them frolicking in North Harbour.

Time was up so they rode back back to Manly to drop off. The Harley tour birthday present was a huge success.

Jadranka wrote: “It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life – first time on a bike and felt awesome!
I must give credit to Phil who made it all comfortable and truly enjoyable! He is such a lovely guy, professional but friendly and easy to talk to at the same time. I was very well looked after!

Sooo grateful to my beautiful friends for organising it and Phil for taking me places I never visited, giving me little history lessons, keeping me safe, and having so much fun:))
Thank you very much”,

Alan + Christina 29.03.19 – 50th wedding anniversary tour

Gallery

A friend organised the 50th wedding anniversary tour. It was a surprise which went down very well. 50 years is a long time to be married and it certainly is worth celebrating. A trike ride is a great idea and a very memorable one.

Eastern Panorama tour

Craig picked them up from their hotel in the Rocks and took them on the Eastern Panorama tour. They saw some of the main Sydney sights. Bondi Beach is always a favourite for our passengers and it is worth a look.

Then they saw some of the posh eastern suburbs such as Double Bay and Rose Bay. This follows around a very scenic part of Sydney Harbour. Next they went through the infamous Kings Cross. It is known for the nightlife and being the red light district of Sydney. It is not nearly as notorious these days as it was back in the day.

Next they rode through Woolloomooloo and past the world famous Harry Cafe De Wheels. Famous for their pie and peas. Then they continued on into the Domain precinct. They ride past the Art Gallery of NSW, a beautiful building and worth a visit. They have a free permanent gallerys with famous artists on display.

Domain-Yurong Precinct

They continued on to the tip of the Domain-Yurong Precinct. The view is beautiful looking west over Sydney Harbour to the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Near there is Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, a stone hewn seat.

Travelling south back into tow, they rode past the Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool. You can also see Garden Island, the location of a major Royal Australian Navy base.

The tour ended all too quickly. The 50th wedding anniversary tour was a great surprise. It is also a great present to give someone who has everything. For instance, it is an experience they won’t forget and it’s not something gathering dust on a shelf. Another good idea is to buy a tour for yourselves. You are worth celebrating.

Naredi Couple 29.03.19 – Harley tour Honeymoon adventure

Gallery

Harley tour – Honeymoon adventure! What a way to spend part of your honeymoon than on the back of a Harley! We love that we are a part of many big occasions and celebrations.

Harley tour Honeymoon adventure!

Jungle and Perry picked them up from their hotel in Sydney city. They rode over the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge to The Loop. The Loop starts at Jeffrey Street Wharf unless we go the opposite way. 🙂

They stopped for photos at Kirribilli. The view over Sydney Harbour to the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney CBD is wonderful. We do not lie!

Our riders went as far as the ‘posh’ Mosman and it is worth seeing. They then turned around and rode back over the Harbour Bridge. We love looking upward to see the arches as we drive over it. The next place was next to the beautiful Sydney Botanical Gardens. We ride past the eastern edge of it.

Mrs Macquarie’s Chair

This takes us to the famous Mrs Macquarie’s Chair and depending on the tour booked, we get to stop there or we don’t. It is a sandstone bench with views to the harbour. It was carved by convicts in 1811 for the then-governor’s wife, offering harbour views.

They continued on to Woolloomooloo and past the famous Harry’s Cafe De Wheels. The next scenic area was the infamous Kings Cross. It is a lot tamer than it was last century. Hmmm.

The riders then took our passengers down the major thoroughfare of William Street. It is 1.4-kilometre-long and very integral to heading east of the Sydney CBD. The street was named in honour of King William IV and was gazetted in 1834.

They continued on William St and rode past the huge and beautiful St Mary’s Cathedral. They were dropped off at the Bridge Climb to continue their exploration of Sydney – land and air!

Chase + Kim 26.03.19 – 10th birthday trike ride

Gallery

A 10th birthday trike ride was a fabulous present. Chase was smiling ear to ear the whole tour.

Craig picked Kim and Chase up from the inner west. Firstly they rode to The Rocks, it is such a lovely area with so much history. Then they rode over the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is wonderful looking up at the arches from the back of a bike. First stop was Blues Point. It has beautiful views across Sydney Harbour to the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

Then they rode to Jeffrey Street Wharf. It has closer views of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, sensational. Next they rode under the northern end of the Harbour Bridge and past the North Sydney Olympic Pool. Then onto the Harbour Bridge for the return trip over and back into the city and their hotel.

The 10th birthday trike ride is a great experience for young and old. We have had up to 104 year olds of the back of the trike. https://www.trolltours.com.au/product/harbour-bridge-ride/

The Rocks became established shortly after the colony’s formation in 1788. The oldest house in Sydney can be found in The Rocks. The original buildings were first traditional vernacular houses, of wattle and daub, with thatched roofs, and later of local sandstone, from which the area derives its name.

Alan 24.03.19 – Harley Manly Patrol ride

Gallery

Our passenger is from the UK and was given this present by his son. They are both over here in Australia for a holiday. The Harley Manly Patrol ride was their choice and it was a good one.

Harley Manly Patrol ride

Perry picked Alan up from Wynyard Station and took him on a fun experience. Firstly they rode over the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge to Blues Point Reserve. There they stopped for photos and a look at the beautiful view towards the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

They continued on through the lovely lower north shore suburbs. This includes checking out Balmoral Beach and riding over the Spit Bridge. They rode on to Manly and past the famous Manly Beach.

The northern beaches really are spectacular, one of our favourite areas of Sydney. The coastline is magnificent. They rode along the coastline for a while until they reached Narrabeen Lakes. From there they rode along the treelined Wakehurst Parkway.

So they came back to Sydney a different way. Alan was able to see a lot more of Sydney than he would have as a typical tourist. The Harley Manly Patrol ride is a great tour to see many of the beautiful beaches which are hard to see unless you have a vehicle.
https://www.trolltours.com.au/product/design-your-own-ride/

Manly Beach is a beach situated among the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia in Manly, New South Wales. From north to south, the three main sections are Queenscliff, North Steyne, and South Steyne.

So I have just found an interesting tidbit: The beach was named by Capt. Arthur Philip for the indigenous people living there. Philip wrote that “[the indigenous people’s] confidence and manly behaviour made me give the name of Manly Cove to this place”.

Wakehurst Parkway’s ghost

Another interesting theory, it makes the area a lot more interesting!
