Alistair 24.01.19 – Harley ride inner west

Gallery

A unique Harley ride inner west Sydney was organised for Alistair. He is in Sydney on holidays from Scotland. He wanted to go over the Sydney Harbour Bridge so someone on reception at his hotel suggested “why not do it on a Harley Davidson”. So the seed was planted! The concierge rang us and we organised Jungle to pick Alistair up.

Alistair didn’t mind where they went after driving over the Harbour Bridge so Jungle took him on a Harley ride inner west Sydney. He saw many places most visitors to our beautiful city don’t get to see. After riding over the bridge they stopped at Kirribilli for photos.

They rode through some of the lower north shore suburbs to the Gladesville Bridge in the inner west. They continued on Victoria Road before they turned off and rode around Iron Cove Bay. This took them through Rodd Point and along Henley Marine Drive. It follows some of the 7km Bay Run.

Next was an historical tour of Balmain. The historical Balmain Power Station, Dr Balmain’s original house and past the oldest bowling club in Australia. Then he was ridden back to his hotel to continue exploring Sydney on foot. If you’d like to do a Harley ride inner west Sydney and see something different to all the touristy parts, contact us for more information.

https://www.trolltours.com.au/product/design-your-own-ride/

The area now known as Balmain was part of a 550 acres (2.2 km2) grant to colonial surgeon Dr William Balmain (1762–1803) made in 1800 by Governor John Hunter. A year later, Balmain transferred his entire holding to settle a debt to John Borthwick Gilchrist before returning to Scotland. The legality of the land transfer from Balmain to Gilchrist for only 5 shillings was challenged by Balmain’s descendents and further development of the area was blocked.

Whitty Family 23.01.19 – Manly Patrol Harley ride

Gallery

A Manly Patrol Harley ride was exactly what our passengers wanted to do. It is school holidays and it was a treat for the kids. Our four Harley riders picked them up from the Star City Casino. They rode them over the impressive Sydney Harbour Bridge and did the Kirribilli Loop. They stopped for photos at Kirribilli, between the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. The Loop takes them under the Harbour Bridge which is also an impressive sight.

Next was Balmoral Beach, a favourite of just about every Sydneysider we have talked to. It is in Middle Harbour. They continued onto North Head which has beautiful views across Sydney Harbour to the city.

They turned around and travelled back to the Harbour Bridge via Military Road. The tour ended back in Darling Harbour. The Manly Patrol Harley ride was a fantastically fun experience for the whole family. If you’d like a fun and safe family experience contact us. We will make it happen!

https://www.trolltours.com.au/product/design-your-own-ride/

Manly is a beach-side suburb of northern Sydney. It is 17 kilometres (11 mi) north-east of the CBD. Manly Beach is one of the city’s famed surf spots with a lovely pine tree-fringed oceanfront. Walk to sheltered Shelly Beach. Shelly Beach is a great snorkelling area.

The heath-covered clifftops at North Head reveal unending ocean views and a spectacular panorama of the harbour and Sydney skyline. Situated on the northern-most edge of the harbour within sight of Hornby Lighthouse on South Head.

If you’re feeling adventurous, North Head has some of Sydney’s best boat diving sites and is especially popular for drift dives. Explore the remains of historic shipwrecks and perhaps glimpse common sea dragons and the rarer red Indian fish in the sheltered harbour waters. If your exploration is on foot, try the easy Fairfax walk.

Chloe and friends 21.01.19 – trike tour Balmoral Beach

Gallery

Our passengers are from western NSW and flew into Sydney this morning. They caught a taxi to Balmoral Beach for breakfast. The Craig and Steve our trike riders met them their to start a trike tour Balmoral Beach and more.

They rode from Balmoral to the lower north shore of Mosman. Next was Cremorne and then over the wonderful Sydney Harbour Bridge and the incredible ANZAC Bridge. Now they are in the inner west of Sydney. They rode onto Henley Marine Drive and past Birkenhead Point. The final destination was the Drummoyne boat ramp where they hired a boat to go along the Parramattta River and into Sydney Harbour.

They had such a fun experience and we can tell their whole holiday will be a lot of fun. A trike tour Balmoral Beach and beyond is a great experience, contact us for details.

https://www.trolltours.com.au/product/design-your-own-ride/

Birkenhead Point Drummoyne, The Outlet Centre is Sydney’s largest outlet centre. Located in Drummoyne, New South Wales, Australia, the centre is also home to a marina and apartment complex. Most of the centre is an open space to maximise the views of Sydney Harbour.

Balmoral Beach, in Middle Harbour, is a favourite destination for North Shore residents because of its picturesque sheltered beach set against the green backdrop of Middle Head.

It is not so well known by visitors and tourists, but the stunning natural beauty of the beach and surrounds make it well worth a visit. The beach is situated in Hunters Bay, which is the first body of water inside Middle Harbour.

Although the beach backs onto the HMAS Penguin naval base, it’s hard to see the military buildings because of the forest that covers Middle Head.

A stand-out building is the Bather’s Pavillion, an historic white pavillion built in 1928-1929 that enjoys a new lease of life as a cafe and restaurant. It is a rendered brick construction of classic Mediterranean influence with elements and finishes common to the Spanish Mission style.

Nikhil + Radha 21.01.19 – Harley tour Bondi

Gallery

Our passengers are from India and wanted to do a Harley tour Bondi Beach. They own a Harley back at home and agree, it is the best way to see and appreciate a city or country. Jungle and Perry picked them up from the Rose Bay Seaplane. They rode them to Bondi Beach with a stop for photos.

They continued through the Eastern Suburbs to Kings Cross and Woolloomooloo. A ride through Sydney city to Darling Harbour where they were going to have some lunch. Even though the weather had dark clouds and a few sprinkles it didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm. The passengers and the Harley riders all enjoyed the Harley tour Bondi Beach. If you’d like to do a Harley tour Bondi Beach or in fact, anywhere around Sydney or the Blue Mountains, please contact us and we can make it happen.
https://www.trolltours.com.au/product/design-your-own-ride/

Bondi Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Sydney if not Australia. “Bondi” or “Boondi” is an Aborginal word meaning water breaking over rocks or noise of water breaking over rocks. The Australian Museum records that Bondi means place where a fight using boondi sticks (nullas nullas or fighting sticks) took place.

Bondi Beach is about 1 kilometre (0.6 mi) long. Surf Life Saving Australia gave different hazard ratings to areas of Bondi Beach in 2004. The northern end has been rated a gentle 4, the southern side is rated as a 7 (10 is the most hazardous) due to a famous rip current known as the “Backpackers’ Rip”. It is near the bus stop and many backpackers and tourists do not realise that the flat, smooth water is a rip, and quite dangerous, and the unwillingness of tourists to walk the length of the beach to safer swimming. The south end of the beach is generally reserved for surfboard riding. Yellow and red flags define safe swimming areas, and visitors are advised to swim between them.

There is an underwater but it does not stretch the entire beach, it is made up of overlapping sections. Pods of whales and dolphins have been sighted in the bay during the months of migration (March–May, September–November).Fairy penguins, while uncommon, are sometimes also seen swimming close to shore or amongst surfers in southern line-up.

In 2007 the Guiness World Record for the largest swimsuit photo shoot was set at Bondi Beach, with 1,010 women wearing bikinis taking part. Now there is free Wi-Fi to Bondi Beach users. Service is free with limits on access periods and downloads per use.

Anne 20.01.19 – surprise birthday Harley ride

Gallery

A surprise birthday Harley ride was a great start to a wonderful day. Liz bought the surprise birthday Harley ride for Anne. All her mates were there to celebrate the Birthday with her.

Our Harley rider Phil picked her up in Petersham, in the inner west of Sydney. He rode her on the back of the Harley to many of the interesting suburbs of the inner west. These include Balmain, Drummoyne and Rodd Point. They continued on to Norton St, Leichhardt and then to the drop off point. A surprise birthday Harley ride is a great present for almost anyone!

Anne absolutely loved her Harley ride. Liz wrote:
“Hi Phil thanks so much for making it special for Anne. She loved the ride and your chats. Couldn’t be a better experience.
Kind regards
Liz”

James Norton

Norton Street is in the suburb of Leichhardt in Sydney, Australia. It is located 5 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district and is the main commercial street in the suburb.

Norton Street contains a mix of residential buildings, restaurants (Italian and others), cafés, eateries and individual retail outlets, including several bookstores and grocery shops. There are also hotels, a Palace Cinema, Norton Street Grocer and two of the suburb’s three shopping centres: Norton Plaza and the Italian Forum.

At the southern end of the street is the Italian Forum, notable for its design which seeks to emulate the feel of a Mediterranean town piazza featuring a fountain, ringed by cafés and upmarket fashion shops.

Balmain is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney . Balmain is located 6 km west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Inner West Council. It sits on a small peninsula that juts out of Sydney Harbour, directly opposite Milson’s Point.

It is located on the Balmain Peninsula surrounded by Port Jackson, adjacent to the suburbs of Rozelle to the south-west, Birchgrove to the north-west, and Balmain East to the east. Iron Cove sits on the western side of the peninsula, with White Bay on the south-east side and Mort Bay on the north-east side.

Traditionally Blue Collar, Balmain was where the industrial roots of the Trade Unionist movement began. It has become established in Australian working-class culture and history, due to being the place where the Australian Labor Party formed in 1891 and its social history and status is of high cultural significance to both Sydney and New South Wales. Today, the ALP contends with the Australian Greens for political prominence in Balmain, and Jamie Parker of the Greens holds the State seat of Balmain.

Yvonne 17.01.19 – Harley tour birthday surprise

Gallery

A Harley tour birthday surprise was part of a week of birthday surprises from Yvonne’s husband. Phil picked her up from their hotel in Sydney CBD and rode to the first stop – Centennial Park. It is a huge 2.2 square kilometres of land, about 360 hectares (890 acres).

Next they rode to famous Coogee Beach, Bronte Beach and one of the most popular Tamarama Beach. It wouldn’t be a proper Harley ride if we didn’t go past the famous Bondi Beach. They continued through the Eastern Suburbs of Rose Bay, Double Bay and Rushcutters Bay.

Through the infamous Kings Cross and Woolloomooloo before heading into the Royal Botanical Gardens to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair. There are beautiful views across Sydney Harbour to the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. They continued on to North Sydney where Phil dropped Yvonne off. She will continue her week of birthday surprises with her husband.

She loved the Harley tour birthday surprise, the grin on her face says it all. If you’d like to arrange a Harley tour birthday surprise please contact us and we can organise one for you. Or on a trike for two people if you’d like to join in the fun with the birthday person.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centennial_Parklands

The Tasman Sea and Coogee Bay along with Coogee Beach lie towards the eastern side of the suburb. The beach is popular among families and famous for its safe swimming conditions.

Bronte Beach sits on Nelson Bay, surrounded by Bronte Park. Bronte offers scenic cliff-top walking paths south to Coogee via the Waverley Cemetery and north to Tamarama and Bondi Beach. The cliff-top path offers views which extend from Ben Buckler in the north to Malabar in the south. Bronte is located about 2.5 km south of Bondi Beach.

Tamarama Beach sits between two prominent headlands on the Bondi to Coogee Walk, with 80 metres of shoreline. It has great surfing conditions, but it is prone to strong currents. It is surrounded by parklands and there is a cafe, playground, barbecue area and amenities. Tamarama is often referred to as ‘Glamarama” because its where beautiful people hang out.

A trike Eastern suburbs tour was the perfect experience for our passengers. Craig picked them up from their hotel and rode up Oxford Street which is where the Mardi Gras Parade marches up. Next main point of interest was the lovely Centennial Park and then Bronte Beach. Bronte Beach sits on Nelson Bay, surrounded by Bronte Park.

Then they rode past Tamarama Beach, Bondi Beach and Rose Bay. They cruised past the ‘Cruising Yacht Club’ at Rushcutters Bay before returning to their Hotel.

They saw so many of the famous sights in Sydney and loved every minute of the experience. Gave us a 10 out of 10! An trike Eastern suburbs tours will show you the best of the eastern beaches.

Jo + Kathleen 02.01.19 – New Year Cruising around Sydney

Testimonials

Jo wrote to us on TripAdvisor about the New Year Cruising around Sydney tour:
“I bought this as a gift for my Mum, who is visiting from UK, for her Christmas present. She has talked about doing this on her previous 8 visits, but “never got around to it” so I thought it was the perfect surprise. Steve took us on the 3 Bridges tour, taking in the sights of Sydney. From the start he snapped pics, laughed and joked and made our trip so much fun. Mum had an awesome time. I highly recommend Troll Tours, a huge thumbs up from us both!”

A New Year Cruising around Sydney tour was definitely an experience our passengers wanted to do. They met Steve at Circular Quay and he rode them around on the tour. The first bridge was the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. In our 12 years of doing tours, we never tire of seeing the arch from below. It is a great view from the trikes and Harleys as there is no roof to stop the view. First stop was Blues Point with the gorgeous view across Sydney Harbour towards the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

They continued on into the lower north shore suburbs which led them to the inner western suburbs. There they rode over the second major bridge, the Gladesville Bridge. It has wonderful views along the Parramatta River to the Harbour Bridge. It is good seeing the city and the Harbour Bridge from a different perspective.

The Gladesville Bridge leads onto the main arterial road, Victoria Road. They travelled on it for a short time before turning off into the suburbs of Drummoyne and Leichhardt where they followed the Bay Run. It is a 7 km walkway used by walkers, joggers, dog walkers and bicycles. It follows around Iron Cove which is part of the Parramatta River.

Then onto the third bridge the fabulous ANZAC Bridge. The bridge was given its current name on Remembrance Day in 1998 to honour the memory of the soldiers of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (known as Anzacs) who served in WW1. An Australian Flag flies atop the eastern pylon and a New Zealand Flag flies atop the western pylon.

Each of the bridges has an interesting history and each is constructed very differently so the trike tour of 3 bridges is a good ride to do. Also, each bridge has beautiful views from it. New Year Cruising around Sydney – well, actually any time of the year is a really fun experience.

Nada 02.01.19 – City Harley Ride Sydney

Testimonials

The City Harley Ride Sydney:

Hi Katrina,
Sorry for the late reply. I had the best time on the City Harley ride ?. Perry was lovely and your customer service was excellent.
Thank you so much.
Happy New Year!
Nada

On the City Harley ride Sydney Nada got to see all the main places in the CBD and inner suburbs of Sydney. Perry picked her up in the inner west of Sydney and rode her to the Royal Botanical Gardens and Mrs Macquarie’s Chair. They also went through Woolloomooloo, past the Finger Wharf and the infamous Kings Cross and out to Bondi Beach.

Woolloomooloo (/ˈwʊlʊmʊluː/WUUL-uu-muu-loo) is a harbourside, inner-city eastern suburb of Sydney. Woolloomooloo is 1.5 kilometres east of the Sydney CBD. It is in a low-lying, former docklands area at the head of Woolloomooloo Bay, on Sydney Harbour.

Woolloomooloo was originally a working class district of Sydney and has only recently changed with gentrification of the inner city areas of Sydney. The redevelopment of the waterfront, particularly the construction of the housing development on the Finger Wharf, has caused major change.

The Finger Wharf is a heritage-listed former wharf and passenger terminal and now a marina with residential apartments, hotel and a restaurant. The Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf appeared during an era of large finger wharf building. It was built on the site of Sydney’s first fish market (1872-1910) for the Sydney Harbour Trust, which was created in 1900 to bring order to the chaotic state of the wharves throughout the harbour and began a substantial rebuilding program. The jetty was commenced in 1910 and it was largely completed by 1913.

On the City Harley Ride Sydney we drive past Finger Wharf but we don’t stop. It is definitely worth a look through if you are walking past.

Mark + Paddy 13.01.19 – trike tour of Harbour Bridge

Gallery

Our Irish passengers were such fun, Steve our trike rider loved the trike tour of Harbour Bridge just as much as they did! They are living just out of the CBD so they caught a train into Circular Quay. Steve picked them up from there and took them on the ride of a lifetime.

They rode over the Sydney Harbour Bridge which is the main drawcard of this tour. They stopped at Blues Point Reserve for photos. The view across Sydney Harbour to the Sydney Opera House and the CBD is beautiful, we even admit it.

They rode around the North Sydney area and also called into Kirribilli. This area also has beautiful views across Sydney Harbour to the Opera House and the CBD, just seen from a different perspective.

Troll Tours are almost all Sydneysiders, born and bred here so we know all the best places to go. If you’d like to do a trike tour of Harbour Bridge or anywhere else in Sydney, we sure can organise it for you.
