The surprise southern spectacular tour was organised by Brooke for Mick. Brooke tagged along. ? It was a covert operation, no emails or phone calls in case Mick saw or heard. So it was a huge surprise in the end. We organised our trike rider David, to arrive at their house at 9.30am. He then took them on a 4 hour trike tour south.

David wrote later: Lookouts, beaches, a bridge and lighthouses were the places visited today.

Royal National Park

Firstly, the journey started travelling through the Royal National Park.

The Royal National Park is Australia’s first National Park and after Yellowstone in the U.S.A. was the second National Park in the world to be established. Interestingly, the park was originally named The National Park but this was changed in 1955 after a quick visit by Queen Elizabeth II to the Royal National Park. It was created as a people’s park in 1879 and the park covers an area of 132 sq km.

Next, they had coffee stop at Bald Hill, Stanwell Tops. Stanwell Tops is known for its beautiful coastal, escarpment and cliff views. The hills that rise sharply from the coast to the escarpment with strong air currents make Stanwell Tops a prime spot for hang gliding and paragliding as well as the perfect spot to take a photo and admire the views of the ocean, the escarpment and the Sea Cliff Bridge.

Seacliff Bridge

We then continued onto the Seacliff Bridge and along the coastline to see the beaches to the north of Wollongong. The 665 metre long Sea Cliff Bridge is a highlight along the Grand Pacific Drive – A drive which takes in 140 kilometres worth of coastal scenery from the Royal National Park, Loftus down to Nowra. The surprise southern spectacular tour was an amazing ride so far.

Wollongong lighthouses + Mt Kiera Lookout

A ride past the Wollongong lighthouses then a climb to Mt Keira Lookout. Wollongong Harbour’s Breakwater lighthouse has been inactive since 1974 but the Flagstaff Hill lighthouse is active. Mt Keira is a local landmark of Wollongong, towering 463.9 metres high.

Bulli Tops

The next part took us to Bulli Tops and a view down to the way we have travelled earlier. However, the 4 hours was nearly up. Heading back north, David returned via along the Old Highway to Waterfall. In conclusion, the surprise southern spectacular tour was a huge success and very spectacular!

The sister’s Blue Mountains tour was organised by Hanaa. They lost their mum a few years ago and it was an extra difficult time last year. Hanaa wanted to cheer everyone up, give them a fun experience. Last year Hanaa bought a trike tour off us for her nieces. This year it was for her two sisters. She followed in the car with her Dad.

Springwood

We found a place in Springwood, where the passengers and trike rider could all safely meet up. It was a total surprise and one they loved. When our rider turned up, they freaked out – in a good way!

Megalong Valley

Our trike rider Max, found the passengers at the prearranged pick up spot. He rode along the Great Western Highway, up the Blue Mountains. Instead of going to all the touristy places (which we love), he kept going to the picturesque Megalong Valley. On the way they stopped at Govetts Leap Lookout. You’ll see a magnificent waterfall which drops a whopping 180m to the base of the cliff.

After almost an hour of riding, they stopped to eat at Megalong Tea rooms. So far, the Megalong Valley trike tour was fun and the best surprise! Our customer and their Dad followed the trike and they all met up for lunch. After a relaxing pick me up lunch, they piled back on the trike and Max rode back down the Blue Mountains. He dropped them back at their car in Springwood. The sister’s Blue Mountains tour was a huge success.

Janet organised the surprise 3bridges trike tour for her husband. She went with him to share the experience. We arranged our trike rider Steve to pick them up. Originally we organised to meet them outside a restaurant in College St, in the city. However, there was a Black Lives Matter protest happening on College St. So after a few quick phone calls, Steve and our passengers met up in a different spot.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Firstly, they rode over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. We always tell our passengers to look up and enjoy the unique view. The more than 6,000,000 rivets are so interesting and the arch is so iconic.

Blues Point Reserve

After we rode off the Harbour Bridge, we did a left hand turn and a ride up a few streets, leads to Blues Point Reserve. The views over Blues Bay towards the Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and the CBD are just stunning. All the more stunning because of the lovely weather.

After a stop for a stretch and a few photos, they hopped back on the trike and continued riding on through North Sydney and Crows Nest before joining River Road. It is a fun road to ride on. River Road leads to Burns Bay Road which, in turn, leads to another bridge but not one of the main three.

Fig Tree Bridge, Tarban Creek Bridge, Gladesville Bridge

The Fig Tree Bridge opened in 1963 and spans the Lane Cove River. After that bridge, they continued on and crossed the second of the bridges Tarban Creek Bridge. This spans Tarban Creek, likewise, it has nice views east to the Harbour Bridge. Then they got to bridge #2 of the main 3 Bridges, the Gladesville Bridge. It has wonderful views along Parramatta River towards the Harbour Bridge and the city.

This bridge is on the main arterial thoroughfare of Victoria Road. They travelled along for a short while before turning off into the inner west suburb of Drummoyne. Following the shoreline of Iron Cove, which is part of the Parramatta River, they saw some lovely water views. It is part of the 7 km long Bay Run. So far, the surprise 3bridges trike tour was a huge success.

ANZAC Bridge

Our favourite bridge is the ANZAC Bridge. We think it is incredible, a work of art and design. It is main bridge #3. Similarly, it is also great to see without a roof over your head inhibiting the view.

Most noteworthy, the stay cable design concept development and final design for the new bridge were carried out by the Roads & Traffic Authority of NSW. Finally, the bridge was opened to traffic on 03 December 1995 as the Glebe Island Bridge.

The bridge was given its current name on Remembrance Day in 1998 to honour the memory of the soldiers of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (known as Anzacs) who served in World War I.

However, the hour was up so Steve dropped our passengers back at Circular Quay. The passengers thought the surprise 3bridges trike tour was fantastic. Chloe + Emmylou’s mum bought them a 22nd birthday trike tour. She bought Gift Vouchers for each of them so they could pick a date and time. Today was it and what a glorious day! A perfect day for a 2.5 hour tour around Sydney. Firstly, they did the Eastern Panorama tour and then the 3 Bridges tour.

Our trike rider Craig, picked them up at Circular Quay. We emailed a map and directions on how to get to the pick up point. It’s very easy.

After riding east through the city, they arrived at the infamous Kings Cross. It’s the ‘red light’ district of Sydney. Once it was full on though it has calmed down a lot since it’s heyday. Home of the famous and huge Coca Cola sign. Kings Cross is also home to nightclubs and ladies of the night though it is not nearly as raunchy as it was in the 1970s (apparently).

Watsons Bay and The Gap

Continuing on, they rode through the posh eastern suburbs of Rushcutters Bay,  Double Bay, Rose Bay and Watsons Bay. Here, they stopped at “The Gap” for photos. The view towards North Head and out to the South Pacific Ocean. Watsons Bay sits on the end of the South Head peninsula.

We then rode via Dover Heights to North Bondi Headland. They stopped for a stretch, some photos and to see the view. It has a stunning view which looks south, down the coastline and to the famous Bondi Beach. It’s probably the most famous beach in the world. The beach is seriously nice (but not our favourite) and we usually stop near the lifeguard station, made famous by the TV series “Bondi Rescue”. Bondi Beach is one of the most visited tourist sites in Australia.

Next, the headed west and back into the city. So far, the 22nd birthday trike tour was a blast! Their Mum had organised the itinerary and it included the 3 Bridges tour.

Kirribilli

Next, they rode past Kirribilli House. Kirribilli House is the secondary official residence of the Prime Minister of Australia. After that, they rode around the corner to Jeffrey Street Wharf. From here, the views across Sydney Harbour towards the Sydney Opera House and the CBD are magnificent. In addition, it also has an up-close view of the side and underneath of the bridge. A perfect place to stop for photos.

The Kirribilli Loop

They rode under the north side of the bridge and continued on their tour. The underside of the northern end of the SHB – Sydney Harbour Bridge – is very interesting. The Kirribilli Loop was finished by riding past Luna Park and the North Sydney Olympic Pool.

They continued riding on through North Sydney and Crows Nest before joining River Road. It is a fun road to ride on. River Road leads to Burns Bay Road which, in turn, leads to another bridge but not one of the main three.

Michael organised the 60th surprise Harley tour for his wife. She had always wanted to go on a Harley Davidson and this was the perfect opportunity. Our Harley rider Alan picked her up from her home in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

After a stop for a stretch and a few photos, they hopped back on the Harley and Alan rode back over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. They bypassed the city and rode through the posh eastern suburbs of Sydney, including the Bays: Rose Bay, Double Bay and Rushcutters Bay. Next, Alan stopped at Bondi Beach for photos and so Debbie could have a proper look at one of the most famous beaches in the world. The beach is seriously nice (but not our favourite) and we usually stop near the lifeguard station, made famous by the TV series “Bondi Rescue”. Bondi Beach is one of the most visited tourist sites in Australia.

Bondi Beach is recorded by the Australian Museum that Bondi means place where a fight using boondi sticks (nullas nullas or fighting sticks) took place.

However, the hour was almost up so Alan dropped Debbie back at home. In conclusion, the 60th surprise Harley tour was a big surprise and a huge success.
